Thanks for sharing the signs of a stroke COL Mikel J. Burroughs
S * Ask the individual to SMILE.
T * Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently), (i.e. It is sunny out today.)
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs
SPC Britanny *Winnie* Balthaser Thank you so much. My mother has had three strokes and my father has gotten her to the Emergency Room within the first hour and it has saved here life and she has very few disabilities from the stokes (she is 81 now and doing very well) Knowing and reacting properly makes a big difference!

Great post Sir,
There are also risk factors like smoking, high blood pressure and family history.
After my Medicare office interview is finished, it appears sometime this month, my company will be able to screen at risk veterans and their families with carotid artery screenings. I have not inquired if Health Net will reimburse. But, since Medicare supports a one time screen I am hoping Health Net does too. I will find out soon.
Have a great day,
M. Morris RVT
