I need to search for a veteran who I served with and cannot find him. I know veterans who like to keep to themselves and he maybe one of them.

Just Google the name and hometown.

That’s what I did for the friend mentioned in my response to SSG Carlos Madden ‘s query about the best shoe polish for sit shines.

Some names may appear, several commercial sites that will “cost $” sites will appear.

I continue clicking until I find a free site and then go down the list of names presented as I look for a match with the approximate age of whomever I am looking for.

Telephone numbers usually appear also. Once I have called all of those numbers to no avail, I conclude my subject has passed on. Then I Google his wife’s name, if that telephone number is no longer in service - I say a short ‘Goodbye’.

I have done that as well. Found my old roommate and a couple others. We talk a couple times a month. The only trouble is remembering how to spell there names.

TWS also is a site used by veterans, but you have to pay to belong

CW2 (Join to see) - Yes, there is the free version of TWS, but it I find it isnt very interactive. You post your stuff. You can look. People can look for others but its pretty much stagnant as a platform. I think I updated my profile when I retired in 2016 and not been back.

Many military units have Facebook groups and are a great place to find buddies from many years ago.
