This may sound self-serving but........ being commissioned at age 33 years 9 months and later making the rank of major in 2012 and completing CGSOC (Army service school required to get promoted to lieutenant colonel) getting a 92% average on my intermediate level education all while working 55 hours a week at United Parcel Service and spending all my weekends trying to get caught up on my studies. Accomplishing this school while burning both ends against the middle maintaining my physical fitness and Sanity at age 53. I'm 55 now and hopefully next week I find out if I made the selection to O-5.

LTC (Join to see) - The CG did bless my dedication and service with a Meritorious Service Medal during the retirement function he mandated for me.

Truthfully, SFC Ed Lopez’s presentation of a Saber from the ‘old’ Bn, (4th 160 inf, 40th ID, ((Mech), was more moving and is relished more now than the MSM.

The pictured, ‘Swagger Stick’ was not my ‘style , but is also a heartfelt momento.

The detail from the Division Band also added to the Occasion. (Regretfully, I do not think I really expressed my pleasue at their performance), The late, first wife, mother of my two sons and my supporter for 25 years of weekends, ATs and many dark nights; and I enjoyed having the ‘first dance’ for the first time in our lives.

Your post is a great example for others LTC. Hang in there. As soon as a larger war breaks out, I suspect you will be given a fiield commission to Brigadier General.

As an FAA Aviation Safety Inspector (career #2), I completed an entire check-ride and signed a Statement of Demonstrated Ability (FAA Medical SODA certificate) for a young lady that was a Paraplegic in a wheelchair, proclaiming she was officially a certified PILOT. She had been in an crippling automobile accident and worked very hard in a specially modified Piper with hand controls. She flew better than most pilots with no mobility issues. I went home that day loving my job and thanking the good Lord for allowing me to be part of that experience. What a joyous thread in my life.
