Tax cuts don't add to the debt. Unrealized gain- great way to say we don't have the money so it will cost us in the end. This genius writer is an alarmist and the article is why the media is being ignored- report the facts and not what you want it to be. Debt is added by spending. The tax cuts were originated to force spending cuts and to take the onus off working people. Tax cuts- well those lie directly with Congress. So bs flag is thrown on this post and the crap within it. Great bird cage liner back in the day however.

I agree. More of the division in our nation. Too many people are driving wedges between us.

MSgt Robert "Rock" Aldi - We need to keep in mind what happens when the middle income tax cuts end and revert to previous rate while those in the higher bracket do not. No doubt with inflation any real gains will be lost. So enjoy the extra money now but be ready to pay when the bill comes through. Save Save and Save as to oppose to spend, spend and spend.

Just wondering......if tax cuts are such a wonderful stimulus to our economy, with no downside......and President Bush famously cut our taxes during his Presidency......then why were we on the brink of total economic collapse at the end of his second term? And why are Republicans deficit hawks when we have a Democratic POTUS, but have no problem with them when we have a GOP POTUS? Are deficits bad, or not? Is debt a good thing, or a bad thing?

Okay Capt Dwayne Conyers as we know MSNBC is left of center in its bias. I searched for some time to find unbiased assessments of the National Debt. The best approaches compared National Debt to GDP since the GDP is an indicator of productivity and that is what helps keep the dollar strong on the world market.
Needless to say it takes time to calculate federal debt and GDP accurately.
One things that seems certain is that the first $20 trillion debt was obligated prior to Donald Trump being President. The $1 trillion debt that has ben added under his watch can be attributed to him even as the previous $10 trillion of national debt was incurred under former POTOS Obama watch. When he came into office the national debt was approximately $10 trillion and it grew to approximately $20 trillion by the time he left office..

Since the thread got very long under Joe Davis, I decided to answer you under my own response. Thank you for your concern SFC Shirley Whitfield when you wrote" Sorry to hear you were let go. However, what you described had been going on long before Obama's era. I've for lots of stories."
In the manufacturing, agricultural, textile and coal industries and supporting businesses unemployment has certainly been problematic. The manufacturing and textile industries lost skilled and unskilled workers as businesses moved workforce offshore because it was cheaper with less restrictions. The coal industry and supporting businesses were devastated last administration. They have experienced a resurgence in the current administration.
Different parts of agriculture industries have been hit hard by conflicting EPA guidance and other regulatory requirements. The big companies withstood the period but many small farms went under - that happened before POTUS Obama and during. AS EPA regulatory guidance is reviewed and corrected I expect many agricultural areas will benefit in the coming years.

What was unique in the outside the beltway area of Washington, DC was decimation of highly trained and skilled workers like myself who had two decades of supporting high level government requirements as an ORSA and an honest broker. Business healthcare insurance increased significantly and the medical capabilities began to shrink as doctors retired because of the overwhelming paperwork requirements of ACA.
In previous years, as the Federal government adjusted what was contractible versus essential government staffing requirements. In those decades people were able to move from business to business especially in the Big 7 businesses which were involved in national, local and international contracts - Booz Allen, KPMG, Peat Marwick, SAIC, etc.
Once ACA hit those with significant disabilities were terminated in this are. Businesses had to do the calculus to determine what was affordable.

Since I was vested my retirement assets were mine.
My wife lost her health insurance and thankfully since we had no significant income she wasn't fined for no health insurance.

Pretty much describes what I saw here in Florida as well, and your comment about things happening before POTUS Obama is spot on. As I've posted elsewhere, biggest impact I saw from ACA was elimination of full time with benefits positions. They were replaced by two or three part time positions, no benefits and 32 hour per week max caps.

Thank you my sister-in-Christ SFC Shirley Whitfield. The economic policy decisions and economy did not impact us significantly before 2010. My low six-figure income was sufficient to pay our debt payments, tithes, offerings, etc.
The primary impact after my termination on June 30, 2013 on our incurred debt was inability to pay our mortgage. That went to foreclosure and bankruptcy and subsequent eviction the next year.
Our personal debt was impacted and credit companies lowered our available credit [AMEX which I have been with since 1981] and my wife's two credit cards took her to court two years ago. God guided me throughout that process and HE gave me the repayment figure to offer - accepted by both BB&T and Capital One - the same attorney represented both. Capital One allowed her to pay the debt interest free.
BB&T charges interest. I have been paying the debts each month. I doubled teh payment to BB&T which stopped them harrassing her.
Last year on December 31, USAA sent my debt to the IRS to clear their books and the IRS adeed it tro my tax bill for lat year. The law is that after four yeras a creditor can send teh debt to the IRS to be collected.
God is in comnntrol of this all situations. Each day I askHIM what do do and seek permission for things He has told me to refrain from - Contacting Congress, TRICARE, VBA etc is something HE has held me back from - so far :-)

Capt Dwayne Conyers Sorry but this sounds like way too much of fake news. The economy is flourishing. The tights rules to stop growth are gone. Everything seems to be on the up side. Where does guy get his proof???(Especially coming from MSNBC the fake news headquarters.)
