About
Donald John Trump (born June 14, 1946) was the 45th president of the United States.
Trump was born and raised in Queens, a borough of New York City, and received a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School. He took charge of his family's real-estate business in 1971, renamed it The Trump Organization. The company built or renovated skyscrapers, hotels, casinos, and golf courses. Trump hosted The Apprentice, a reality tv series, from 2003 to 2015. Always having an avid interest in politics, he entered the 2016 presidential race as a Republican and was elected in a surprise victory over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. He became the oldest first-term U.S. President and the first without prior military or government service.
President Trump had prioritized trying to protect the United States by enhanced border security, wanting to change weak immigration laws and destroying the activities of MS13. At-home accomplishments included tax cuts, Trump’s strong support of law enforcement, his crucial rebuilding of the military, and record-breaking low unemployment numbers. Trump has followed through on and exceeded his promise to roll back two regulations for every new one created, and surpassed the 2:1 ratio in 2018, eliminating 12 regulations for every new one in 2018. Also, under President Trump, America was energy independent and the largest crude oil producer in the world, with production at a record high. In 2017, the United States became a net natural gas exporter for the first time in 60 years.
In the area of Health, President Trump created a Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis, which recommended ways to tackle the opioid crisis, and he signed the “Right to Try” legislation to expand access to experimental treatments for terminally ill patients. Two strong stances of this 45th president was to protect the Unborn and stop the scourge of Human Trafficking with many pieces of legislation.
In foreign policy, Trump pursued an “America First” agenda, believing that the United States should no longer accept bad trade deals and unfair trade practices that harm American workers and industries. He had withdrawn the U.S. from the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade negotiations, the Paris Agreement on climate change, the bad Iran Nuclear Deal and the World Health Organization (WHO) which witheld information on the harm of Covid19. Other advantageous foreign policy actions taken by President Trump for the United States was to negotiate a new trade agreement between the United States, Canada, and Mexico to replace the disastrous and outdated North American Free Trade Agreement, and to withdraw US troops from Syria. He was also responsible for many Americans being freed from foreign incarceration.
President Trump had other historic foreign accomplishments. In an honor not given to any other US President since the founding of the People's Republic of China, he was invited to an official dinner inside the Forbidden City in 2017. He was also the first U.S. President to set foot in North Korea in 2019. The President also fulfilled promises from five previous US presidents when he signed orders recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and then was nominated four times for the Nobel Peace Prize for his historic Kosovo-Serbia Peace Agreement and for successfully accomplishing a peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Before leaving office, President Trump had the opportunity to appoint three Supreme Court judges: Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.
