Americans’ Work Ethic Destroyed by Socialism, Says Home Depot Co-founder
New York Post: The 93-year-old billionaire co-founder of Home Depot blamed “socialism” for Americans lacking the motivation to work and warned that the future of capitalism is in danger. Bernie Marcus told Financial Times on Thursday, “Nobody works.” “Just give it to me. Send me money. I don’t want to work — I’m too lazy, I’m too fat, I’m too stupid,” Marcus said about what he perceived as the attitude permeating the country. “Nobody gives a damn.” The longtime Republican backer ticked down a list of people he blamed for standing in the way of private enterprise, including President Biden, “the woke people,” the news media, Harvard graduates, MBAs, lawyers and accountants (New York Post). Daily Caller: Marcus previously spoke out against socialism in 2019 when asked about Bernie Sanders and his left-wing proposals, such as socialized medicine. “He is the enemy of every entrepreneur that’s ever going to be born in this country and has been born in the past,” he said of Sanders and his propositions. Marcus’ business partner Ken Langone seconded his stance, stating, “[Socialism] doesn’t work. It never works” (Daily Caller).

And likely doesn't read much of anything besides memes and the news crawler on Faux News. The guy doesn't even know what socialism is. The company he founded pays crap wages that result in his workers depending on welfare to make ends meet. He's the poster child for socializing losses and subsidizing profits.

The environment of a couple of million illegal aliens has put the Unions in a future position of being the guards of jobs for Legal citizens' . And the Dues will be much higher. The " steps for joining the unions will be much more stringent to just have an entry level job.
All because of a massive glut of migrants searching for work will be happening.
The whole wage's of any job will then be regulated by the Union. And the dues and membership costs will be much higher.
That is until the migrants start their own Unions.
The wage will then drop, companies will have a choice of Workers/ Unions, Etc., the Unions will be the only thing to secure the Job security... at a price.
I hope those that wanted the illegal aliens in The US will still be happy when the wages drop and You have to join a Union paying the dues and such just to keep an apartment and a bit of food on the table.

SGT Gerald “Jerry” Harrell i know the choices States decide between. Right to work, and Union.
That being said things change quickly. Especially when votes are desired.
But, when it's a difference between you getting ANY job or it going to either an illegal immigrant/ amnestied immigrant, who will work more hours for less pay and benefits, Unions seem a golden goose to be in when it comes to securing a job, or being undercut from about the 2 million immigrants that we know of looking to just survive and work for less wages and less benefits.
The wages will go down, the benefits will either shrink or even disappear entirely. It happens anywhere there are a few jobs and hundreds applying for them, everytime.
So, it's not so much a Right to work as an individual without joining associations/ unions . As it is a necessity to join an association just to get an entry level position that offers more security of working and keep being employed over being replaced by workers that will gladly work for less money and is used to barely subsist ob a few pesos a day, carpool or walk miles to get to the job, use to factory conditions that are borderline dangerous, less than safe, less than what we have become used to. And the hours that may need to work, with little or no benefits, lower wages, worse than being a sharecropper when it come to living arrangements...
People will almost always vote with their Wallets/ Stomachs.
Right to work may soon be a choice in name only.

Amn Dale Preisach I’m in agreement. Unions have aligned with politics and their goals (not stated of course) are to increase their power and wealth. The immigration issue, though it’s not immigration it’s lawlessness, is breaking down the quality of life for the legal residents of this country. It is Punching every naturalized citizen, visa holder, legal immigrant in the face for doing it the right and lawful way. I welcome anyone to this country that does it the right way…. The same way my ancestors did.
This will cost our children and grandchildren but the elites from both sides of the isle do not care as long as it will allow them to gain more power and wealth. It is time to stop voting for party and start voting for the people that best represent the direction the People want it to go.

Yep, it's the fault of the undocumented immigrants who are being paid crap - if not illegal - wages under the table who are taking your jobs, not the completely unethical - and DEFINITELY law-breaking - employers (who are virtually never held accountable) who pushed out American citizens and lawful residents.
You definitely have a grasp on what's going on.

PO3 Justin Bowen - I can remember back in the ‘70’s in Texas, every 6 months or so, INS (as it was back then) would raid different businesses that employed illegals, round them up, and deport them. The businesses would be fined and they would hire another group of illegals because it was cheaper to pay the fine than it was to pay minimum wage. The difference from then and now is that those that entered illegally were not allowed to stay and there was some enforcement albeit minimal. Now, we can’t hurt the businesses that support the PAC’s that give the politicians power.

PO3 Justin Bowen it is simple business economics. A greater number of People in the job market than there are jobs, employers will tend to profit off the glut and keep / make wages low. Simple Supply and Demand economics.
If any surplus in the working Public exists to the ratio of Jobs. Then companies will take advantage of it.
2 million extra people in a job market that is near full, the Social Fault does lie on the company if they keep the wages / benefits low. But to the stock holders, it's just all part of business economics. .

SGT Gerald “Jerry” Harrell - Basically, EXACTLY what I said. The businesses hired undocumented immigrants instead of LPRs or native-born citizens because they were cheaper so those companies could increase profits, and, like with the racists of today, people blamed the immigrants - who were later given amnesty by the MILLIONS by Reagan - instead of the companies that intentionally shunned LPRs and native-born citizens solely in pursuit of profits.
And by the way, the Grand Canyon-sized chasm of a difference between the Republicans of the 1980s and today's Republicans is that the Republicans of the 1980s clearly and explicitly recognized that any policy proposals for addressing immigration fleeing poverty, rampant violence, corruption, and starvation had to include support for the people in those countries rather than simply cutting off the very aid that allowed those people to remain where they were - which is exactly what Trump did that very predictably resulted in people fleeing destitution, rampant violence, corruption, starvation, and starvation in the years immediately following his decision - and telling them to not come to the US to seek better lives while at the same time demanding a bigly beautiful, completely impenetrable wall to be built by siphoning billions of dollars from military families that can be scaled by people who were just deported or newly arrived with a rope ladder costing a few bucks or cut through with a simple saw.
The absolute stupidity of not blaming the profit-driven, corporate welfare recipient corporations and not demand that 100% of everyone between the hiring managers, executives, and shareholders of those companies be thrown in prison and that those companies be shut down (which would very naturally result in Trump and countless Republicans being thrown in prison for doing EXACTLY what you're complaining about) is laughably absurd.
The companies and those that profit off of their profits that come at the expense of both the undocumented immigrants and the LPRs and citizens that they supposedly displace (they don't; LPRs and citizens simply don't want to do the jobs that those undocumented workers do) are to blame - NOT the undocumented immigrants.

PO3 Justin Bowen if Trump wanted more undocumented immigrants go come, what was the " Remain in Mexico " policies about... or title 42, or even building a wall, or , even making policy with the countries the Illegals were coming from to stay there and apply ant the US consulates there? Man, you have really swallowed a bunch of propaganda.
Too bas most of it is untrue.

I won’t disagree with most of what you said. Unless you are Native American, you are an immigrant. That what made this country what it is, immigrants. I think those that hire undocumented workers should be penalized in such a manner that they will not be inclined to put profit before people. That said, those that wish to come here to work, or be educated or to be naturalized need to do it through a process. You cannot demand punishment for one group breaking the law while not demanding punishment for another.
If I asked you what you would do if you came home and found someone (you didn’t know or did know but was not given permission regardless) in your living room…. What would you do? You would want them removed at the least. That is what is happening at our southern border now…. The immigrants are stepping into our living room without permission and being allowed to stay. Politics aside, I have yet to hear someone explain to me why, if this is truly OK, that the lion share of those entering the US right now are not coming through authorized points of entry.
This is not a partisan issue. Team America needs to come together and fix this issue. Any immigration reform should deal with those that encourage illegal immigration but ALSO deal with those that enter our country illegally.
As a reminder, there were only 19 terrorists that caused one of the greatest tragedies in American history on September 11th….. How many got-aways have we had and how many of those have entered with nefarious intentions?

PO3 Justin Bowen if you believe i'm blaming the immigrant ,you're dramatically superficial in your comprehension skills. It's the Government that is to blame for not doing a thing , other than what Trump did, to stop the illegal entry of immigrants across the border.
Ever since we had a border, there have been those that jumped it. That being said, since Bush Sr. It has had a dramatic uptick in number. Under Obama, it spiked higher- DaCa , Trump slowed it down, trird to put measures in to at keast slow ghe numbers down. Then Biden pretty much stopped those measures.
And we went back to Catch and Release. Which is continuing to increase dramatically the numbers of illegal crossings.
It it not the fault of the immigrant. It is the fault of our government. Many are the reasons why. The most obvious is cheap labor. The less obvious is amnestied voters. And the most obvious, disruption of all aspects of control and emergency services draining the coffers oof Towns and school systems/ hospitals inundated and not being paid, draining resources and such leaving towns , counties , States in an emergency situation for protecting the citizens and having budgets left void. It is not the fault of any immigrant. It's the fault of the politicians who refuse to deal with the situation or even care about them / or the citizens of this country's safety.
The politicians have done little to stop the flow. In nearly 35 years , not one thing has been done to stop the illegal immigration . Sure, laws have been passed to fine businesses that hire illegals, but that is after they are here.
Joes been in political office for over 50 years. He doesn't seem to think it's a problem. That " the border is closed" .
He's either a moron, or he doesn't care.

SGT Gerald “Jerry” Harrell i din't blame the immigrant. I blame the government for lack of protecting the border and keeping illegal immigration at a minimum. Instead, Dem and Republican alike see no real problem or urgency to truly reign in the problem, or even that there is a problem. For nearly 40 years they have done little to nothing to curb illegal entry into the US along the Southern border.
It's not the illegals fault. It is the government.

Nobody? An overstatement for sure. Just had some work done by a 20 year old and a 22 year old. What a great job they did. Worked inside day and and outside day 2 on a cold day in December. They did not shy away from anything.
Our Son had work done at their house. Because he and his wife work in different towns from which they live, my wife drove to Illinois to watch the house while they worked. She came away totally impressed by their effort.
I had previously shared a story about a woman who came here from Mexico when she was 15. Apologizing for her broken English, she shared her story with us. She works 7 days a week on 3 different jobs to see to it her kids can go to college. Her husband works in construction. If she works as well at her other 2 jobs as she did the one we experienced, she is not one of the nobodies.
There are plenty of good people in this country and there is reason for hope. Are there generational changes in this regard? Absolutely. Some will never learn....most will
