Join the "Colonel" for Warriors for Life (WFL) Virtual Group Support this Saturday night. Bringing veterans, service members, civilian supporters, and military families together for online peer-to-peer support every Saturday evening! Hosted by COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs and sponsored by Victory for Veterans (VFV). Come join this awesome and inspiring group.
Saturday Night's Topic: “Tips & Resources for Helping Veterans with PTSD, TBI, MST, and other Invisible Disabilities!”
During their time serving our country, military personnel can encounter many kinds of traumatic events. Millions of veterans will carry that trauma with them, resulting in a condition known as post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD.
“Post-traumatic stress disorder is a mental health condition that’s triggered by a terrifying event — either experiencing it or witnessing it,” In addition, PTSD can also result from Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) and Military Sexual Trauma (MST). There are also many Invisible Disabilities and mental health issues as a result of physical injuries.
We will discuss and explore some tips, tools, and resources that can help friends and families of veterans who may be suffering from PTSD, TBI, MST, and other Invisible Disabilities. Ideas range from offering assistance to veterans after they have returned home from service, encouraging former service members to seek mental health treatment and simply having friendly conversations with veterans to see how they’re feeling. How about a Virtual Group Support?
