MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. Have you ever read or heard about the forgotten Army Regiment on Iwo? The 147th Infantry fought with the Marines on Guadacanal and spent more than three months on Iwo in mopping up operations. They landed on on March 20, 1945 and left in late June, 1945.
