Thanks for letting us know Maj Marty Hogan that November 9 is the anniversary of the birth of Maryland Governor and 39th Vice President of the United States, serving from 1969 to 1973 Spiro Theodore "Ted" Agnew.
He was a staunch conservative who had a talent for using arcane words to insult, complement or entertain.
Rest in peace Spiro Agnew!

Agnew rose from president of my high school PTA, to Baltimore County Executive, to governor of Maryland, to Vice President in less than eight years. (He was also my professor of torts in law school) Along the way he incurred massive campaign debts and his handlers showed him a quick way of paying them off. Thus an ordinary man fell victim to politics. It's a cautionary tale for all who are tempted by the siren song of power and celebrity.
