I've hit that slide release hundreds of times, and even smoothed the slide stop on a couple of my guns to make the release smoother and easier since they are usually stamped, rather than machined.

I use the sling shot method as it strips a bullet off the clip upon which i remove the clip and replace the bullet giving me a full clip.

People who wish to appear relevant and be regarded as an authority will tell you no. THowever there's a reason its located where it is. Either way works. One generally takes two hands and the other just one hand. Terrain dictates, right?

Whatever works. People with small hands and or weak hand strength often have trouble manipulating the slide release.

Generally, it's how you were initially trained. They both work, but I am on the side that says it's located were it is at to be used. If you don't, it doesn't bother me.
