Amen- hand over heart and facing the flag. Proud Pop moment a few years ago when my grand daughter was in pre-k; I asked her what she learned today in school while we were out to dinner. She asked of she could show me and I said sure. She stood up on her chair in the middle of a crowded restaurant and placed her hand over her heart and recited the Pledge. She was very proud- so was I...and she got a standing O from the other patrons. Pride and honor- we lost that for a while and it is coming back.

American Flag: History of the Pledge of Allegiance
Some history and truth about the progression of the "pledge". If we went back it time would it be a Nazi flag salute? Bellamy salute! Under God wasn't added ...
Happy Friday to you my friend SGT (Join to see) and thank you for reminding us that the Pledge of Allegiance we grew up with was initiated on Oct. 12, 1892, as "12 million American school children recited it in commemoration of the 400-year anniversary of Christopher Columbus' Voyage."
It is noteworthy that former Union Army Officer during the Civil War Captain George Thatcher Balch was a teacher of patriotism in New York City when he composed the poem The Salute which became the Pledge of Allegiance.
Things have certainly changed in this nation. Can you imagine a teacher of patriotism in public schools.
George Thatcher Balch is a graduate of USMA, West Point in the class of 1951 as graduate number 1,496. He graduated number three in his class and was commissioned in Ordnance. During the Civil War he was brevet promoted twice to Major and LTC and he resigned in 1865 as a permanent Captain.
It is also noteworthy, that judicial restraint
I am thankful that the benighted efforts on the 1970s to remove the influence of "dead white males" from the culture was unsuccessful although it has taken a couple decades to correct that wrong which led to "corrected' history which redacted much history and inserted popular figures and "people of color" as the saying went. Those benighted folks seemed to believe children (1) needed to be indoctrinated into their world views and (2) textbooks needed to be limited in size so that history was redacted and replaced with current events.
It would have been wise if the contributions of significant "people of color" were added to history instead of replacing the contributions in earlier centuries IMHO.

How in the world do we get the "non-patriotic anti-allegiance National Anthem kneelers" to become "Real Americans"?
