A pittance, most sailors that I knew had tailor made uniforms. Managed a top 1% in military appearance for most of my career.

At the Yokosuka uniform shop Chiefs and Officers can get tailored blues. Look way better than off the shelf and only cost $45 more. Only one I've been to that does this.

Interesting though I've been to various Army and AF bases throughout the far east and there's always a tailor shop or two outside the gate that makes tailored uniforms. Never seen this for the Navy. Would of loved to have some "Liberty" crackerjacks made.

SCPO (Join to see) - There used to be one out of DC. I was measured once and I just ordered one as needed. Caveat, for the last ten years of my career, my weight didn't vary by more than 5 pounds.

Not very surprising SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL since inflation increases the cost of goods and materials including personal clothing items included in the sea bag.
The clothing allowance is intended to defray the cost to the sailors [soldiers, airmen, marines] so that they have adequate tax-free allowance to allow them to repair or replace lost or damaged items.
