Thanks for reminding us SP5 Mark Kuzinski that on February 20, 1968 as a direct result of the Tet Offensive, the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee began hearings to investigate American policy in Vietnam.

Here is along-haired future Senator and Secretary of State John Kerry testifying three years later.

I think we would have been better served if the hearings had taken place when the French stuck us with this horrible war,but as usual old men make decisions that end young men’s lives and changed others forever.

SGT Philip Roncari The US took a long time before getting involved in Vietnam. While on a ship to Korea in 1954, rumors abounded that we were going to be diverted to Vietnam!

Exactly right we inheritated an unwinnable war from the French after they got their asses whipped. And it turned out to not be about Vietnam but us and the Russians and Chinese and who was the biggest badass. Chinese and Russians beat us with the Vietcong not the NVA...
