Thanks Maj Marty Hogan for letting us know that December 18 is the anniversary of the birth of U.S. Army WWI veteran and American electrical engineer and inventor Edwin Howard Armstrong who is best known for developing FM (frequency modulation) radio and the super heterodyne receiver system.
I was very thankful for FM music stations in the 1970's because they played a wider range of music than the AM pop stations :-)

Major E. H. Armstrong certainly left behind a great legacy by inventing so many invention connected with communications. It is remarkable brand of genius to find so many break through technologies in his 63 years of walking upon the earth.
