I think it simply goes with what the owner is comfortable with and finds the gun they choose to be most accurate and safe.

I own multiple calibers, including the two mentioned. Each has its own purpose for me. You can debate till the cows come home; but in the OR, the two deadliest GSW’s I worked on were a .22 LR and a .32. Neither made it off the OR table alive. Carry what you are comfortable shooting and able to hit your target with. All the other crap is just that, crap.
