We continue to be embroiled in a degrading US Second Civil War with increased aggression and violence. The prognosis for recovery and reconciling is quite poor presently.

Not soon enough. One segment of society wants a free for all where societal norms don't exist and want to achieve that at all costs. You can't reason with them on anything.
