Everything I needed a loan for was paid in full and usually ahead of time by me. With no government interference. Forgiving student loans is a signal to the recipient it's ok not to live up to their obligations.

Joey 'where's my brain?' once again going the unConstitutional route. Folks have to apply for those programs and be accepted based on their occupation. Biden just wiped them away with his 'kingly' edict.

Earning a student loan cancellation for public service, be it the military, civil service etc... is something few people take issue with. However, I think it needs to primarily be applied for and granted up front, before an individual starts, with exceptions for high performers and such (as long as it complies with the respective policies AND laws). But this isn't what Biden is doing on the larger side of his loan forgiveness. Put simply, it is his way of buying votes for Democrats. The SCOTUS already ruled against him and for good reason. It is not cruel to demand that people who take out loans for school and signed on the dotted line to pay these back, be required to pay them back in full. Exceptions can be made in limited fashions (i.e. not in mass as an abuse of discretion) to defer payments and such. But those who choose to get Art History degrees at an Ivy League school need to be prepared to struggle if they find themselves doing nothing related to their degree program and which doesn't afford them the ability to be less frugal with their money. I get that people have passions and think they can rise to the top of a profession which has very few people at that level. But when you make an agreement, I expect you to adhere to it. I got a loan for school, as did my wife (after paying her way through her bachelor's through multiple jobs while in school). We have both paid these off long ago by opting to minimize expenses, entertainment, etc. we expect others to do the same.
