APOD: 2024 October 11 - Ring of Fire over Easter Island

Good Red Friday morning, Rallypoint, and welcome to the October 11th edition of Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD). We travel to Easter Island today for a view of the most recent annular solar eclipse on October 2nd. This is (according to the APOD notes) a composite image - one was taken with a solar filter, one wasn't. You can see a sunspot at 3 o'clock on the edge of the solar disk. Cheers.

I can see why early man was so enamored by the sights in space. I keep using the word amazing with almost every post of yours. I don't think I'm over using the word at all.
