Justice Thomas said;'“We hold that a semiautomatic rifle equipped with a bump stock is not a ‘machinegun’ because it cannot fire more than one shot ‘by a single function of the trigger.”’ And, even if it could, it would not do so ‘automatically,’” Thomas wrote. “ATF therefore exceeded its statutory authority by issuing a Rule that classifies bump stocks as machineguns.”'
BTW SCOTUS also said a brace does not an SBR make.

For those who are angry about this ruling I can only ask... Have you even used a bump stock before?

Weather or not you agree with the bump stock, that is not the important part of the decision. The Justices determined that the ATF does not have the authority to make the decision if the bump stock was legal or not. Only Congress has that power. On Justice did refer to Congress and stated if they did not like the decision do their job and make the law regarding it and not allow an agency to try to make laws. This decision will go far in all the other 2a cases. ATF cannot make laws, they can only enforce them.
