The troll in me wants to say Colorado's gun owners need to invest in Eastern bloc weapons that take 7.62x54R. See if the anti-gun nerds catch that!

But seriously there's only one actual assault weapon by both name and definition, and that's the SMAW (Shoulder-launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon) which is a single-shot device used to blow stuff up from a distance.

Here is a link to the actual bill mentioned in the story. Colorado House bill 1292, Prohibit Certain Weapons Used in Mass Shootings, actually allows for multiple exceptions.
