I agree with you. In my opinion I don't see any purpose in getting high.

It grows everywhere and is natural plant, native to many parts of the country. Yes, it will get you high but it also has many medicinal properties that everyone knows about.
I'm not a proponent of legalizing pot, or getting it taken off of the list of things that can get you fired from your job, because it does hamper your ability to do your job.
I think that criminalization for possession in small amounts is a little crazy. If you have a brick, it's easy to assume that you plan on selling or distributing, and you're going to get arrested and do time. If you have enough to get you buzzed, I think that level of possession shouldn't be that big of a deal.
I also would never use it for any purpose. I don't even drink very much anymore. I don't need any help to forget what the hell I was doing at any given time. I do that just fine sober.

I have spoken to many people who have said it treats their anxiety far better than any prescription they have ever had. Further, they can take it on an "as needed" basis, as compared to a scheduled "keep it in your system, just in case" basis (i.e. take 10mg twice daily), as many of our anxiety drugs are used.
I have heard less extensive, but still rather consistent, attestations concerning pain, specifically inflammatory / arthritic pain.
No, I am not saying it should be a free for all. But I do see VERY valid legitimate uses.
As long as it remains a schedule I drug, I will never use it. I am one of the very few folks out there who can honestly say I have never even sampled MJ or any of its derivatives. Not even a "smoked but didn't inhale" BS lie. But IF it becomes a prescription drug, and IF the VA will prescribed it and IF that state I work for adjusts law to allow to use it and keep my employment..... IF all of that happens, I would certainly give it a try in a controlled environment when I do not have to work in the next 24 hours (or more).

SFC Casey O'Mally - The bad part is the addiction. I think that if it is controlled in its distribution it could do a lot of good. I'm not a fan of "Recreational" use, but I would be all for prescribed use under controlled situations.
