People are now looking for excuses to either limit the Supreme Court, or expand it to fit their agenda. With liberal judges being in the minority, the left can't control how the constitution is interpreted, and they can't have their way.

Incorrect. It is about ethical standards, and the lack thereof, in our Supreme Court, where the highest level of ethics should be standard.
