But there are extenuating circumstances: "The police were able to search his home and find the guns because he is also accused of carrying out multiple shootings unrelated to the situation with his ex-girlfriend." This matter needs to be settled first, not left hanging out in limbo. He is an accused violent offender. If the accusations are not settled by the time SCOTUS hears the case I would expect them to remand it back to the 5th with instructions to settle the shootings matter. Garland and the DOJ are trying to send a "Gotcha" case to the Supremes. The only thing they could do is agree too Hear, so they could then kick it back. But that's just my, not a lawyer, but an educated man, opinion. Again whether you like it or not.

I agree with you. They want to use a case like this to place limits, or remove limits on the 2A. The funny thing is that whenever they challenge the 2A they lose even more talking points. The text is plain, no interpretation needed.
What their challenge may ultimately do is remove the section that prevents convicted felons from purchasing guns. That part is worrisome, but it fits right back into their narrative that incarceration doesn't preclude you from being able to protect yourself.
These people are dangerous, and I'm not talking about the felons. The idiots trying to push their ideas no matter the consequences to law abiding people.
