Perhaps, just perhaps, those elite schools had way more applicants with with SAT scores over 1590. Heck I got rejected by many schools too.

CPL LaForest Gray I didn't know that much about Martin Luther King and then his holiday became a national holiday. He believed the non-violence not like the Black Lying Marxists.

Friday, I heard three distinguished African Americans agree that this was the right thing to do those three were Dr Ben Carson, civil rights attorney Leo Terrell and Republican presidential candidate Larry Elder.

I know the hypocritical not so inclusive left will call them the black face of white supremacy, House Negroes and tokens but yet those three made it without affirmative action. Senator Tim Scott is also a fourth one who would probably agree but this goes against the leftist narrative.

BLM can't use the Malcolm X Narrative of changing things by any means necessary.

Just think how many Asians went independent or republican because of discrimination like this?

And now the SAT, ACT exams will no longer be used as predictors of college success. Is this a way for colleges to skirt picking Asians? What criteria will they use, HS grades? Essays? Recommendations? Legacies?

MAJ Montgomery Granger You know, SATs were relatively new when I was applying to colleges, and the ACT didn't exist, yet people had been getting into colleges for centuries.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - You can see a good run-down of what they did from the the late 1800s onwards at https://www.erikthered.com/tutor/sat-act-history-printable.html. Bottom line - before standardized testing they all did their own thing (most had their own institution specific entrance exam).

Prior to using the SATs, Harvard, Princeton and Yale accepted all applicants who met their academic requirements and passed their specific entrance exams. However, back then (1920s) only 5.7% (4.5% White/1.2% Black) of adults (25-29) had a Bachelor's degree in the US*. In fact, according to the US Census from 1920, only 2.77% of students went on to college after high school (disparity from the 4% figure quoted in the link I gave above).

MAJ Byron Oyler a retired 06 friend of mine said the reason they had the photos to begin with was to make sure you are not fat. I've worked for Colonel and Brigadier General African-American officers. One Brigade Commander was in the California Army National Guard which you know is very political and the other one was in the Army Reserve and I want Star Command and Marysville Washington. The general spoke to us when I was working under one of his brigades said that he was a contrarian. He wasn't afraid to tell people what he thought and yet he still made it to one star.

So I'm not sure how true that is?

SPC Colin Ahasay I had cropped the picture originally period one of my former battalion commanders had posted this on Facebook but you could read his comments up above. You'd be surprised how many leftist people are white. Also, here's an example for white people were defending a female black chief of police who was formerly the chief of police of seattle. The mostly White BLM came to her neighborhood to harass her and why people stuck up for her. Luckily, she was in seattle. The city of Seattle gives her a local apartment where she can crash out at instead of having the drive home an hour north of the city. Sometimes traffic can make it a 2-hour drive or more.

https://lynnwoodtimes.com/2020/08/02/hundreds-of-blm-supporters-storm-snohomish-county-neighborhood-to-protest-at-seattle-police-chief-carmen-bests-home/
The city of Seattle voted to get rid of 100 officers but over 250 quit. One of those officers worked under me in our G3 section. He ended up going to Everett PD along with seven other officers who quit Seattle to go to departments that actually supported them. The city of Seattle is a cesspool with no leadership. Black female police chief best who had worked up the ranks was given a pay cut so she quit.

So that's how inclusive the Seattle radical city council is.

PV2 Scott Mollette this is funny because President Biden and his left of Lenin cohorts are in a bind because they can't burn police cars, they can't have George Soros District Attorneys change the rules and they can't have President Biden ignore the law like he has with illegal aliens and many other issues that are causing catastrophic damage to the USA from within. Nobody says anything about the Asians who have been victimized for the longest time. The African-Americans don't want to acknowledge that not having a father in the family and not having any strong work ethic brings success. I'm sure there are a lot of successful black people out there but with a broken families, the high crime and Drug abuse, not to mention the activism of the left, How can a higher percentage of black men make it? It should be a meritocracy not a skin-based thing. I noticed that the lady who was anti-communist also discussed this as well that this also happened during the cultural revolution that those that were political favorites got into the universities not those who got the highest scores.

I like President Biden's bulletproof limousine is a total loss running into the constitution. Very similar situation with affirmative action being overturned because other court cases mentioned in this conversation shows first discrimination happens and leftist liberals were happy with it.

I wonder how many Asian students became independent or Republican because of this?

SFC John Davis - It's hard to know where to start with some of those people, but we could try I guess.

Affirmative Action was put in place as an allowable practice via an executive order signed by Republican President Lyndon Johnson in 1965 following the Civil Rights act of 1964. In 1978 the Regents of the University of California v. Bakke decision stated quotas "may not be used to reserve places for minority applicants if white applicants are denied a chance to compete for those places. Although the court outlawed quota programs, it allowed colleges to use race as a factor in making admissions decisions".

President Obama's entire college education took place during a period in which race based admissions practices were explicitly ruled unconstitutional by the supreme court. At no point was requirement set that a given percentage of elected officials be of a minority demographic, or that elected officials be of the majority demographic in a district of an electoral map. Additionally his father was admitted to Harvard in 1961 for graduate school before the civil rights act was even in play. The irony in Harvard now pushing for the acceptability of race based admissions in Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President and Fellows of Harvard College makes my head spin.

Racism is a real thing, no one is denying that here I don't think, but maybe perseverance in the face of adversity matters more.

Jon Wang may have not been admitted due to a different type of affirmative action: legacy admissions and rich donors. The schools that rejected him still had over 20% Asian admits during his cycle. Instead of looking at race, look at families of the admitted to see if they have alumni ties or a name on a building.

95% admission if black. 20% if Asian. This lawsuit went for 8 years.

In that case we never needed affirmative action if the real issue is legacy and donors. SCOTUS got it right.
