Different culture in Hawwaii. For example:
If a man's underage son committs a crime then the father is taken to court with him and if the son is found guilty - so is the father. Likewise for daughters, but the mother is responsible. If neither the father or the mother is availblie theen tthe guardians are required to make court appearances.
