A serious situation, for sure, Maj Kim Patterson!!! Based on the commentary, it seems authorities took sufficient action to protect the public in or around the baseball/sports field, and fast action got the injured player to the hospital for surgery... Not sure what went on in the nearby neighborhood, but one always has to be aware of surroundings before firing a weapon...

Sgt (Join to see) “Accidents” such as this seem to be happening on a daily basis around here. I just shake my head at another life snuffed out and can imagine some of what the family goes through when the child dies first

To be fair, I was picked for the all city track meet from my school when I was in the 6th grade. The meet was at a high school and they had a baseball game going on. Someone hit a home run out where my event was and the ball hit me square in the back. Another contestant helped me up and I told him not to say anything to the coach. I was a broad jumper and my best was 10'10", down from my average of 14'. I should have reported it because my track career was over until high school. Anyway, baseballs are dangerous too.
