WASHINGTON ― Judges from the District of Columbia’s federal appeals court heard arguments Tuesday about whether three Sikh prospective Marine recruits could get an immediate exemption to the Corps’ boot camp rule of cutting their hair and shaving their beards.
A three-judge panel expressed skepticism that the Marine Corps had a good reason to deny religious exemptions to its grooming standards but questioned why the plaintiffs required emergency relief.

Sikhs have a history of being incredible fighters and I have never heard anything bad about them. That said, this growing level of individualism across the military has to stop. There is no I in team. We really have not seen a bad war since Vietnam and when something like that returns, all the pretty nail polish, the ponytails, trans, turbans, etc will have some really rough days because war is hell and cares about no one. War is not a 9-5 job, it is fight until you win or lose and even the winners lose a lot.

We had a shooting at a Sikh temple in Southeastern Wisconsin. They way they responded has to engender respect for them. I would love to see them supporting us via military service, but the Army makes the rules. All the exceptions lead to more and cohesion suffers as a result
