HARTFORD, Conn. — The U.S. Army is violating veterans’ rights, its own regulations and the Constitution by refusing to give soldiers with alcohol and drug use disorders honorable discharges that would qualify them for federal benefits, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday.

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL Drug and alcohol use is a choice. There is plenty of help available to our military members to get them straight so I personally think what they got is rightfully deserved. Like anything else, the first step is admitting you need the help followed by making a change in behavior and habits.

Unless they had significant problems outside of alcohol, a better discharge should have been granted.
