SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL this was mentioned at my Legion meeting last week. We have a brand new member who was born in Italy. Enlisted in the Army. Was told twice on his way to Vietnam that, because he was not a citizen, he didn't have to go. Chose to go anyhow. Got back. Went in front of a judge who administered a citizenship "test". He had to write "I go to school". Passed the test, got his citizenship. Why is it so difficult still?

So stupid since this helps the Army. Citizens are eligible for MOS/security clearances that non citizens are not.

While I got my citizenship on my own (while retaining my British citizenship), I agree the Army should "get the lead out" and deliver on its promise to these recruits, who themselves have, I assume by all accounts, delivered on their own promises to serve. The Army dragging its metaphorical feet is Bad Form--and un-American!
