(01 2022) In Michigan, there is currently a push underway by a coalition of grassroots groups across the state to help recruit at least 5,000 election workers for the 2022 elections (Mar. and Nov. in Mich ). There is particularly a shortage of Republican inspectors, ie. during the 2020 election, the city of Detroit, MI, had only 170 Republicans out of 5,486 election officials.

Election workers (Election Inspectors / Poll workers) help protect election integrity on voting day. More citizens should step into this role for the sake of aiding a lawful voting process. Check with your local political office for more info to be involved. Duties at a polling site on Election Day (depending on the state) include, but are not limited to:
• Explaining how to mark the ballot, or use the voting equipment
• Monitoring the voting equipment
• Maintain accurate records during the voting process
• Issuing ballots to registered voters
Workers must:
• Swear or affirm the Oath of Office
• Opening and Closing prescribed procedures
• Declare a Political Party Affiliation
• Be registered to vote (in most states)
• Attend an educational training program (mandatory prior to working an election)
• Live in the county of the municipality in which they serve
• Be a United States citizen, 18 years of age or older, who has resided in the district in which he or she intends to vote for at least 10 consecutive days.
• Be able to read and write the English language, and otherwise being capable and of good understanding.
• Receive training to do the job.
