Queue Arthur 'Guitar Boogie' Smith and Dueling Banjos, and take in this morning's galactic mixing bowl. NGC 520 lies some 100 million light years away in the constellation Pisces (The Fish). An exceptional read/share of the most informative.

A similar looking collision might be expected in a few billion years when our disk Milky Way Galaxy to collides with our large-disk galactic neighbor Andromeda (M31).
I suspect this will not be helpful to whatever life is on any of the planets close to it.
