Neither do I. Unfortunately they’re very superficial and don’t delve deeply enough into a person’s environment and psyche. A loose cannon can still pass the check and go on to create mayhem in his community. I don’t know what the answer is.

The problem lies in the fact that if someone really wants a firearm bad enough, thy can get them from places other than a licensed dealer.

1LT Voyle Smith - The problem with background checks that as an active healthcare provider and shooter, I cannot tell you what mental health conditions are prevented from owning a weapon and which are allowed. The anti-gun would rather just prohibit all. I just completed my retirement process and the one thing that is not in my profile is PTSD. A few extra dollars is not worth my ability to own and shoot.
