Good morning and Happy Flag Day, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Ganymede from Juno." On June 7, 2021, NASA's Juno spacecraft made a flyby of Ganymede, the largest moon in our Solar System. The photos show the surface in remarkable detail, including craters, long structural features (tectonic faults?), and clear examples of contrasting dark and light terrain.
Ganymede was discovered by Galileo Galilei on Jan. 7, 1610. The discovery, along with three other Jovian moons, was the first time a moon was discovered orbiting a planet other than Earth. The original naming convention adopted by Galileo numbered the moons I, II, III, and IV. Formal names (Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto) were only adopted in the mid-1800's as new satellites were being discovered. Ganymede is named after a boy who was made cupbearer for the ancient Greek gods by Zeus – Jupiter to the Romans.

"Explanation: What does the largest moon in the Solar System look like? Jupiter's moon Ganymede, larger than even Mercury and Pluto, has an icy surface speckled with bright young craters overlying a mixture of older, darker, more cratered terrain laced with grooves and ridges. The cause of the grooved terrain remains a topic of research, with a leading hypothesis relating it to shifting ice plates. Ganymede is thought to have an ocean layer that contains more water than Earth -- and might contain life. Like Earth's Moon, Ganymede keeps the same face towards its central planet, in this case Jupiter. The featured image was captured last week by NASA's robotic Juno spacecraft as it passed only about 1000 kilometers above the immense moon. The close pass reduced Juno's orbital period around Jupiter from 53 days to 43 days. Juno continues to study the giant planet's high gravity, unusual magnetic field, and complex cloud structures."

Book one is the first Mars Colony, and the construction of a shipyard on Ganymede.
Book two is after the shipyard was damaged by a meteor strike, and auctioned off as salvage. It is purchased by a couple of out of work engineers who were wrongfully fired for Industrial Espionage, just because they knew each other. They just want to salvage enough machine tools and other equipment to resell to get back on their feet, but the bad guys want it, because most of their fleet are retired, decommissioned military space ships that were built at that facility.
Book three is about the group that bought the shipyard building advanced warships, and ridding the galaxy of corrupt freight and passenger lines, along with a group that preyed on lone ships.
The trilogy is named, 'Transport, Incorporated' since in book two, the group of engineers build the first working Transporter, along with an entire new field of Physics.
