Good morning Col Burroughs and Posse. You are up early this morning.
Taking the initiative is something you have to do if you want to be successful. I know, I've done it personally many times in my professional life. It doesn't always turn out as I planned but more often than not, it results in a successful outcome. The same is true in your personal life. Yes, it is a risk, but if it is the right thing to do, go ahead and take the plunge whatever that entails. No risk, no reward is what most people find out. This doesn't preclude preparation; I am a firm believer in doing your research, but after that, step forward and lead the way.

You got that right about the taking the personal risk Charlie - I've done that many times throughs a number of different initiatives and it';s pay off most all the time. There have been a few set backs, but I always take the initative to find out why, make a course corrction and keep on trucking. Thanks for all the great quotes this morning and have a great weekend. By the way, great posts this morning Lt Col Charlie Brown...

“There are lot of people that don’t use their initative and they end up being reactive when ‘Stuff’ hits the fan. ‘Success comes from taking the initiative and following up… persisting… what simple action could you take today to produce a new momentum toward success in your life?’ — Tony Robbins. May you always take the imitative in your life, your work, your family, and yourself; may your mind, body, and soul be opened to grace, goodness, peace, forgiveness, and a continued bountiful life of purpose; and keep your family safe, secure, happy, and healthy. Don’t sit back and wait for things to happen, get out in front of them and make them happen.” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

I agree Lt Col Charlie Brown many times the risk is worth the success. And even the failures taught me how to improve and perseverance. Matthew 25:14-30

I hope that you and I will always take initiative to bless others with our time, talents and treasure in ways that are both appreciated and passed along to others. Let us always remember to treat others as new would like to be treated. 'So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.' [Matthew 7:12 ESV] my sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown.

God always takes the initiative in relationships. HE loves each of us more than we can comprehend. I pray that each of us who are HIS adopted sons and daughters are learning to love others as HE loves us. Let us lay down our desires to the LORD and trust HIM to fulfill them or replace them with hopes and dreams HE will fulfill. 'There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us.' [1 John 4:18-19 ESV]
I pray that parents and spouses take the initiative to help their children and spouse to make good decisions and offer support as they work through issues together. I pray for an outpouring of love and selfless service in families and neighborhoods throughout the world and especially in the USA, Canada, Mexico, UK, France, India, Japan, Korea, Philippines and Australia. ‘Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.’ [Ephesians 4:15-16]
I lift disabled veterans and service members, deployed service members, police and investigators, EMT personnel and other focused on defending our nation as well as our family members to YOU dear LORD. I pray that YOU bless each with strength, endurance and moral courage to do what needs to be done and say what should be said with grace and kindness. 'Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.’ [Hebrews 12:1-2 ESV]
I pray that you and your family members slept well Saturday night and awoke refreshed and healthy on Sunday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

One of the truisms of the Pacific War in WWI was this- American damage control on warships was superb, and that of the Japanese was much less on some occasions, and even worse than that at other times. What was the difference? Initiative. Junior leaders seeing what was wrong and jumping on the problem. In the Imperial Fleet, the Captain ordered someone who ordered someone who ordered someone to send in the damage control team.
In the American navy it DID NOT TAKE AN O-6 TO TELL PEOPLE TO START FIGHTING THE FIRE!
This is a superb topic, today, sir. Initiative. Know the commander's intent and run with it! Don't stand around and watch the train wreck because, "Nobody told me to do anything."
Initiative, RallyPoint!
(Steve climbs down off his soapbox, picks it up, and wanders off into the crowd, muttering to himself the whole way.)

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - That was also a big difference between the Allies and the Axis in WWII. Hitler micromanaged the deployment of the German troops and Eisenhower gave general directions to get the job done. Micromanaging only works for so long until those that are allowed to think for themselves get the upper hand. In this case I'm thinking specifically of D-Day.
