Good morning Col Burroughs and another RED Friday.
This is a topic near and dear to my heart. I teach workshops on communication for just this reason. People often fail to comprehend the power of what they say to others especially if they are in a position of leadership, authority or power. While most of us learned
"Sticks and stones can break my bones but names can never harm me" as children, I can tell you that if it were true, I would have a lot fewer clients. What is said to us causes wounds or helps to heal them. Too many negative words and you create a person whose negative self image is resistant to healing. Pause before speaking...what you say cannot be undone. There is no autocorrect for our speech.

I expect that you put thought into what you intend to say and that you pause and ponder before you respond more often than in your younger days. I expect you are respectful to those closest in proximity and relationally including family members and friends. No doubt you are aware that the Word of God “is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword” Charlie.
I pray that you and I spiritually mature enough to recognize the stress in others who fear COVID-19 and that we do what we can to diffuse tension and nervous jitters as we interact with them at appropriate distances. I pray that we display good humor and are able to laugh at our own missteps in communication, my sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown.

I pray LORD that each one of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who read this prayer spend significantly more time and effort to praise and thank those around us than we criticize them. I pray the LORD blesses each of us with wisdom to offer solutions when we criticize.
I lift the school children to YOU dear LORD. I pray that the vast majority of school districts will be open to take students back into the classrooms as summer draws to a close in the northern hemisphere. I pray that school children are healthy and that the vast majority will stay healthy throughout the coming school year.
I pray for an increase of truthful communication, compassion and trust across partisan sides for each of the elected leaders, legislators, appointed officials, and judges throughout the USA, as well as Australia, Canada, Mexico, India, Europe, Africa, Philippines, Japan, Korea, Central and South America.
I pray that YOU bless each person working to develop vaccines and treatment for COVID-19 with wisdom to develop COVID-19 vaccines and treatments and communication skills to get approval for the fully-tested vaccines through the bureaucratic processes in a timely manner.
I pray that each one of YOUR adopted children and their loved ones sleep well Friday night and shall awake healthy on Saturday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Good RED Friday morning, COL Mikel J. Burroughs from the slowly fog lifting skies of the MetroWest Area of Boston... I am having breakfast with my wife, so will be back shortly to finish my comments & quotes... Have a great morning, Mike! Back at it, Colonel... I had to trim my wife's hair as her hairdresser did not do the best job, but no more detail on that... LOL!

“Power of Words Day!” Why Not?

My quote:
"Words have a powerful effect on everything in one's life... Words can antagonize others and alienate anyone who reads them if they have a negative slant... Words, when used in a positive way can assuage a bad situation, provide backing to you when you need it, raise spirits of those who are down... When you write...do not write in haste but write, read, rewrite and repeat, until you are satisfied that you have accomplished what you really want to say in the right way." Kerry F. Harkins July 10, 2020

1) "Words kill, words give life; they're either poison or fruit--- YOU choose." - Solomon

2) "You don't have the power to make rainbows or waterfalls, sunsets or roses, but you do have the power to bless people by your words and smiles You carry within you the power to make the world better.
Sharon G. Larsen

3) "We are masters of the unsaid words, but slaves of those we let slip out." - Winston Churchill

4) "Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble." - Yehuda Berg

5) "Words - so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them." - Nathaniel Hawthorne

As we all go forward in life, know this and think before you write or speak...

“Leaders have the power through their words to uplift or destroy, to build up or tear down a team or organization – words can motivate and educate, don’t let them debilitate!”— COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Excellent personal quote today Sgt (Join to see) and as always thanks for the additional quotes and MEMEs to add to the message for "The Power of Words" today. I need to spell check my writing as well when I write for the proper grammar (lol). You know what I mean Kerry. Let me leave you with this:

“May you as a leader and human being use the power of your words to plant a seed that will grow into a bountiful harvest that will feed the motivation and education of many to come; may you always speak words with a positive attitude and with a sense of resilience when needed; and may you take the very best care of yourself for the years to come and keep your family strong, safe, and healthy. Spark people and individuals to action through the Power of Words!” – COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

1.The words of human beings can certainly influence others in positive or negative ways. Tone of voice can be more impactive than the words themselves.
a. Actors, actresses and politicians understand the power of tone and facial expression to express.

2. Only God's Word is so powerful that even the deaf, mute, and blind hear HIM.

3. Preborn children move in the womb when they hear people, they 'recognize' since sounds in liquid travel at a different rate than in air and sound moves liquid :-)

Good Friday, June 10, 2020 morning my friend COL Mikel J. Burroughs

Quotes that impact me
1. Edgar Allan Poe 'Words have no power to impress the mind without the exquisite horror of their reality.'
2. Rachel Wolchin 'Be mindful when it comes to your words. A string of some that don't mean much to you, may stick with someone else for a lifetime'
3. Voltaire 'The secret of being boring is to say everything.
4. Mother Teresa 'Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.'
5. Lawrence G. Lovasik 'Kind words are a creative force, a power that concurs in the building up of all that is good, and energy that showers blessings upon the world.'

Scriptures
Hebrews 4:12-13 ESV ‘For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.’

I pray LORD that each one of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who read this prayer spend significantly more time and effort to praise and thank those around us than we criticize them. I pray the LORD blesses each of us with wisdom to offer solutions when we criticize.
