I have a personal anecdote here. 3 years ago I spent a week in detox and was then allowed to go on with my life as long as I attended out patient group sessions 4 days a week, that's a bear when you"re working 12 hour night shifts. Predictably I was the oldest person there, most were 20 something drug offenders. The thing is they all knew they were ruining their lives,but didn't want to stop. I can safely say that most in that group would have been pleased to see local LE gone. I feel that most people calling for disbanding/defunding want it for the same reason as those kids from 3 years ago.
