It really is helpful for people but it is underused and underappreciated. It is more than just a relaxation tool. It is a way of building a mental map of where you want to be/where you want to go professionally, personally, spiritually. So many ways to use and it is free and accessible to all.

Good afternoon Col Mikel Burroughs and all the rest of my RP Family. The word visualization conjures up many different images for different people. I believe that most folks that succeed in life are those who see something in their future and then work towards that goal or vision. I also see visualization as a means of calming oneself, by studying God’s Word and then applying it to my life and then seeing the results. This has been the way that I have come to be calm in facing anything life throws at me. I visualize all that is told to us, in the Bible, about the things Jesus did during His life on earth and see the power of God at work in Him. Many were healed and some were more than that when their life was restored unto them. That is the vision I apply to myself, believing in what Christ did and knowing that it can happen to me in my life. It is such a calming affect for me and I pray that y’all can have the same experience. Have a blessed day today and always.

Several times a year I get emails questioning the practice of visualization. The inquiries come as no surprise since the secular world is riddled will all types of concepts surrounding visual imaging.

Let me address this question once and for all. Not only is it biblical, but the power to visualize is built-in, and we use it hundreds of times each day.

Imagine trying to drive a car without imagining the automobile driving between two lines, or eating without the image of fork going into the mouth. God designed the visualization process as a fundamental skill for our survival. If we were to eliminate power to visualize in every human being our civilization would collapse.

The home you live in would not exist, neither would your car, your appliances, the food you eat, or the job you go to every day. If you collectively took out imagination from all human beings, we wouldn't have the ability to carve out the simplest figure from wood.

What about love? If our ability to "see" ourselves in a relationship with someone else, marriage would no longer be the institution that it is. As a species, we might become extinct.

DOES IT HAVE POWER?

It's obvious that the ability to visualize part of who we are. God intended us first to see things with our mind and then do them. Visualization is powerful. It's how buildings rise in the skyline, how businesses become successful, and how our entire society progresses and prospers.

In an astonishing lab experiment, Ph.D. Guang Yue, Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University and exercise psychologist from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio, discovered that by just visualizing exercise a person could achieve nearly fifty percent the strength of a bodybuilder. The training last 12 weeks and everyone was amazed when the results went public.

The test provides insight at how much power God put into our brain, and its use must be carefully guided and cultivated, and that's where the confusion lies.

IS IT RIGHT TO VISUALIZE?

The answer is yes! Think about what it would be like if a mother were not able to visualize her toddler's next move. Catastrophe would fall upon the little one within minutes.

God gave us the power to visualize to do good in the world, not evil. If we follow God's word and imagine His word in our lives for the benefits of others, you can rest assured that you are on the right path.

In Matthew 21:21-22, Jesus says that if anyone has faith and does not doubt anything they ask for in prayer and believe they will receive it. This method is the formula of all visualization and men have used for both good and evil. Applied in guidance with God's word can bring joy and healing to life.

Take for example the woman with the issue of bleeding described in Matthew 9:20-22. The verses recount that she suffered for twelve years with the malady, but when heard the news that a man with the power to heal was coming to her town everything changed.

The story tells us she was entirely convinced that one simple touch of the Lord's garment would be enough to heal years of pain. It happened to her exactly as she pictured it and when Jesus learned about her visualized efforts He replies, "Be of good cheer, your faith has made you well."

Faith or visualized belief directed toward Jesus is extraordinarily powerful, and once you exercise your God-given ability, your creator will always tell you to be happy.

Let me summarize by saying that the best way to know if you are correcting visualizing is by putting it to the pain test, or the harm test. When you intentionally visualize something, like the woman in the Bible, you should ask yourself, does hurt anyone, or does it bring relief.

If the answer is that bring it bring relief and peace to you and others, there's a high likelihood you're on the right track. But if you visualize something out of greed or harm chances are it's not going to end well. God is not mocked. He gives us power, but God supervises how we use the power, and He is the ultimate judge about what we receive.

Visualization requires wisdom, and wisdom is obtained through contemplation and meditation of God's word.

I recommend you study scripture every day and then set into motion a focused visualized life, one that glorifies God.
