The Conspiracy Theories That Fueled the Civil War

The two biggest conspiracy theories was that is was a civil war and that it was about slavery. The Atlantic still promoting the Progressive 'Lost Cause' propaganda. Even birds don't like to crap on that rag. Slavery was just an obfuscation of the intent of Lincoln's War; protecting the Northern oligarchy and to prevent the planned Southern route of the Transcontinental Railroad. A route that would have shifted the manufacturing and trade routes of America to the Southern States. The Southern States ceded from the USA to form their own Sovereign Nation (Formally recolonized by 2 nations and traded with by more). The CSA sought Independence, not to take over the USA. Sounds an awful lot like those Confederates who sought Freedom from England for the same reasons. Yes, they (we) were ALL Confederates with the Articles of Confederation. I can go on about how Lincoln waited till 1863 to "Free the slaves", while 4 Union States had active slavery thru the entirety of the War, but that would go counter to the 'Lost Cause' propaganda that never addresses this.
