It would help if the target and message didn't move all of the time. I have been masking from the start, when the Fauci was telling everyone that it was useless. Now a couple weeks before anyone was scheduled to reopen, they want us all to wear them. Why not if they didn't work then, or did he just flat out lie to us? I've had people ask that question and yes, he lied to us. What scares me is there is now a push to lock down until a vaccine is available and flattening the curve (which is arguable that it was ineffective) is forgotten. OTOH, we spent 2 months with little more than mediocre social distancing in big box stores and very few were hotspots for this disease. And the death rate in Long Term Care Facilities keeps rising.

CPT Lawrence Cable - And prisons, and meat packing plants, and beaches. Wherever there is density of people, the virus will spread. President Trump's valet has it now, and if they don't start wearing masks and social distancing, it will spread there as well.

SGT (Join to see) - The original theory was never to stop the spread, which is probably impossible with diseases of this nature, just look at the flu. The theory was the keep hospitals and medical services from being overwhelmed. That hasn't happened here, even in NY there were still ICU beds and ventilators available. My problem is that there seems to be little difference in the numbers of hospitalizations whether you locked down or took minimal precautions. Maybe more important, the death rate seems to be more about elderly care than it is for precautions for the rest of society. When it's all said and done, over 50 percent of the deaths are in long term care facilities and hospitals don't publish numbers on those infected inside their facility, but number of cases with healthcare workers give you a clue about those numbers too. Most of us, and I'm at the edge of the over 65 group, may get this disease and not require medical care or even know that we had it. Publishing the deaths everyday scares everyone, but when you look at the fact that there are 328 million people in the US as of 2019 and we average around 7708 deaths a day under "normal" times, it should add some perspective that is lacking in the response so far.
