APOD: 2020 March 30 - The Colors of Saturn from Cassini

Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "The Colors of Saturn from Cassini." The rings of Saturn show both their simplicity and complexity in this image. Edge on, they are seen for the thin band of matter that they are. Their structure, however, becomes clear from the shadows cast on the northern hemisphere of the planet. Notice the blue hue? Some thing that Saturn's atmosphere, like our Earth, is better at scattering blue light than red. But why is blue confined to the northern hemisphere only? Cassini circled Saturn from 2005 to 2017. I for one look forward to these new treasures as they are pulled from the data that the probe gathered for us.
