I actually owned a semi-automatic revolver once, so it not as ridiculous to see that term as you might otherwise assume. It was a Mateba, six-shot revolver chambered in .357 Magnum. The barrel was aligned with the bottom round of the cylinder, not the top. The barrel and cylinder were mounted on rails, and the recoil pushed the upper unit back, which re-cocked the hammer, and as it slid forward again, it rotated the cylinder. It was probably the coolest gun I ever owned.

The ridiculous thing about the article, though, is that Colt doesn't make a semi-automatic revolver. The only seven-shot semi-automatic handguns they make that I'm aware of are the 1911 models.
