Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Apollo 12 and Surveyor 3 Stereo View." I don't have my glasses, but I do remember this mission. Intrepid landed on the Moon near the Surveyor 3 spacecraft, which had also landed in April 1967. Pete Conrad is shown in this photo. The astronauts removed Surveyor's TV camera and its sampling scoop, returning them to Earth for study. Both are now in the collections at the Smithsonian.

Bean and Conrad have to fight their moon-suits, as they trek out across a dusty crater to retrieve pieces of the probe that landed 21/2 years before Apollo-12.
