Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Mercury in Silhouette." Other than painting, silhouettes were the only means of capturing an image until cameras were invented in 1840. Today, only Mercury and Venus (the two innermost planets in our Solar System) can be captured by silhouette when they transit the Sun. This close-up of Mercury occurred during Monday's solar transit. The next similar event for Mercury is November 13, 2032.

I'm now off my Droid and I must say this is a simplistic an image as I've seen...from Astronomy Magazine... That said, it is what it is...so I did my usual research and came up with a great Video Clip of Mercury actually transiting Mars on 11/11/2019! I believe that your followers will enjoy this actual Transit in motion, not a still image...
