The Doolitlle raid remains to this day as one of the most audacious, intrepid missions ever conducted. US Army Air Corps B-24 bombers off of the USS Hornet. Salute to the daring Army aviators and Navy carrier crew who carried out this daring raid.

Many-many years ago, when I first read a paragraph about this (just a para in passing about the Pacific War in one small volume) my first thought was "Propaganda!". Then I found a model kit, and thought "Why a kit if it wasn't real?" Did some research (small town, smaller library) and my hair stood on end. Hats off to EVERYONE involved, from the aviators to the deck crew that got those beasts into the air!
