The Smithereens - "Sorry" (official video)
"Sorry" - the brand new single from The Smithereens '2011' record produced by Don Dixon - "Sorry" video produced by John Rokosny and Andriette Redmann for Ne...
Thank you my friend SGT John " Mac " McConnell for sharing the word of the day which only seems to be a plural noun "smithereens." :-)
Doing a little etymology research which seems appropriate for the word in question :-)
Smithereen ostensibly is derived from a Gaelic word "smiddereens, from Irish smidirin, diminutive of smiodar "fragment," perhaps with diminutive ending as in Colleen."
Smithereen is a small piece or fleck
The Smithereens are "New Jersey rockers filtered '60s British Invasion influences through a distinctly '80s alt-rock sensibility."
It seems that Coleen was creating a garment from smithereens of fabric. To pass her time she listened to The Smithereens as she smothered her loneliness and pondered what appeared to be a bleak future.
My first wife divorced me and celebrated by marrying somebody else who she divorced three years later. I grieved the end of my marriage for 3 1/2 years and God brought my darling wife to me from Florida. My ex-wife has married a few more times and hopefully the last one will work out well.

I think the guy should be glad she didn't strap those explosives to him.
In honor of St Pat's...
He had too much to drink and he dropped the glass which broke into smithereens. Fortunately, it was empty and no beer went to waste.
