Of course American philosopher, psychologist, John Dewey advocated for Public Education. Sadly the nation opted for public education which tended to sink to the lowest common denominator of capabilities to learn in a classroom.
Motivating and encouraging learning and independent thinking did not fit in well into Public Education in this nation.
