Thank you my friend CW5 Jack Cardwell for sharing the non-classified perspective from Fox News that drones are posing a threat to our security. "Former elite drone pilot for U.S. special operations tells Fox News that the government is "just not ready" to defend against the threat of over-the-counter drones being weaponized to carry-out attacks like the one recently in Venezuela."

Without getting into any sensitive areas, on purpose.
1. Most likely the guidance and control capabilities are IAW the assigned frequencies and therefore subject to jamming [routinely] around sensitive areas at specified times.
2. Drones which would pass through that basic defense would be targeted with more advanced capabilities such as focused sound waves, light waves, etc.
3. I expect commercial and military aircraft have capabilities to stop the bulk of the drones from striking the aircraft - follow-on to anti-bird-strike technology :-)
4. private aircraft would be the most likely group threatened by drones IMHO.

I am not surprised. Counter threat is always on the defense...i.e. responding and not out front.
