CW5 Jack Cardwell Set high standards and soldiers will strive to meet them. Today environment of the military is nothing like the past. Train hard for combat and it saves lives.

Some in the Guard will, as I would have done. Most will not. Many Guardsmen show up for APFT that have not run since last year's APFT and they might pass but barely.

CW5 Jack Cardwell - Jefe that is allowed? boot their ass out, it only happens because it is allowed to happen. Jackasses see that as a free fucking check. Part of their deal is to maintain a level of fitness just in case shit gets bad. Hell, its the standard, if you cant meet it get out, I dont care if you are the E1 or E9, 01, 09, rank/grade has nothing to do with holding up your part of the deal. Our end of that as leaders is to fix broken parts of the unit. That sounds very broken.

LTC Jeff Shearer I agree with you but it is hard when you only see a soldier two days a month. Many want and do excel, many just want to meet minimum, and some don't care.

I agree, i found that making training during IDT's extremely physically demanding tended to motivate Soldiers to exercise between them. Nothing motivates a Soldier like having his teammates...they get real tired of carrying the ones slacking.

CW5 Jack Cardwell 24 months to prepare is ample time. All Commands need to slowly add these events or exercises to their programs to assist in transition to the new test.

I agree for Active component but 24 months sounds like a long time but in the Guard and Reserves they have Drill two days a month, that's 48 days in two years. Annual training is 15 days a year so another 30 days in two years. What can be done is limited by mandatory training requirements. The required training sets have not been issued and the Guard and Reserves are normally the last to get fielded.

SFC Stephen King, I can see a problem with us old walkers. Are they going to kick out all that experience because they can no longer run 16 min 2 mile?

1SG (Join to see) great question I assume they have to address temp and permanent profiles in IAW AR 40-501 at least I hope it is addressed I knew and know a lot of people that have had a profile and proved to be retainable.

I can see some "Lifers" not making the grade, and it'll be a shame to lose that experience.
