This lighter, stronger combat helmet is headed to soldiers

A good quality of life improvement. I've never expected the helmet to stop a bullet anyway, so making it less weight on my neck, while still protecting me from blunt force impact, is a win in my books.

Stop completely? Perhaps not
Impede its path of travel or slow it considerably
making a head shot survivable?
Absolutely yes.
I have two of my soldiers I can hook you up with if you’d like them to recount their stories , see the evidence, and if you asked nicely they’ll probably show you the scars.
The point? They both are alive to tell you the story because they wore their helmet when they were supposed to.
I hated the dome of obedience for 28 years.
But I know they help they protect, they can save a soldier from a concussion or a mortal wound

SGM Erik Marquez Agreed. It's saved me from a major non-combat related head injury while riding in an MRAP. Let's just say that after what happened, a few other "hardcore" non-helmet wearing types riding in the back with me went wide-eyed and put their helmets on immediately.
Either way, my expectation of it to stop a bullet is very low. However, that doesn't mean chance can't play a role in increasing those odds. There's a good video on YouTube of a guy testing various caliber against the helmet. It holds up fairly decently.

The helmets have been shrinking for decades, they are looking more and more like skateboard or motorcycle skull caps.

Hopefully it works as advertised. My experience tells me to optimistically cautious.
