Thanks CPT (Join to see) for reminding us about the Battle for Remagen Bridge which enabled the allies to cross the Rhine River into the German heartland.
The battle was fought from 7 to 25 March 1945.
The lineage and honors of the first infantry battalion I served with the 52nd Infantry included that battle and campaign.

As an enlisted man I was a combat engineer. Therefore I am posting a video about the combat engineers who were tasked with building the first bridge across the Rhine with the expectation that the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen would be taken out by the Germans.

"First Across the Rhine
The story of how the first bridge was constructed across the Rhine, under fire, by the 291st Engineer Combat Battalion during WW2."

Here's another photo for you, CPT (Join to see)! This is of my uncle, SGT George B. Curlee, in front of the remains of the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen, sometime after it collapsed on 17MAR45. He served with the 70th Infantry Division (Trailblazers), was MIA for a short period of time and received the Purple Heart. SSgt Harvey "Skip" Porter SGT (Join to see) SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth

Thanks for sharing. I visited the city of Remagen when I was stationed in Frankfurt back in the early eighties. I have pictures somewhere in a box in my attic.

Peace!
